At the heart of the lobby at 280 Park Avenue in New York City lies a striking 20-foot square reflecting pool, designed as a tranquil focal point within the space. The water’s surface is animated by a grid of precisely arranged jets, producing gentle ripples that flow seamlessly over the perimeter’s infinity edge. This serene visual effect belies the technical complexity beneath it. Working closely with architect Kohn Pedersen Fox (KPF), CMS engineered custom fittings and meticulously coordinated pipe routing to fit within a remarkably constrained space below the lobby floor, ensuring that the fountain’s infrastructure remained entirely concealed without compromising the architectural vision.
