At the heart of the revitalized historic Pershing Park, the water features of the National World War I Memorial in Washington, D.C. offer a powerful and contemplative tribute to those who served. The viewing platform is surrounded by calm, reflective pools of water. Visitors are invited to experience the thrill of walking on water with the platform’s central, shallow-depth membrane pool. Just below the commemorative sculpture—soon to be installed—a broad, tranquil waterwall muffles the sounds of the city, creating a peaceful atmosphere for reflection. On the reverse side of the sculpture, a dramatic vertical waterwall cascades down a textured surface, symbolizing resilience and remembrance. Heated for extended seasonal operation, these water features blend artistry and engineering to enhance the memorial’s immersive experience.
