The Fountain at Dilworth Park – Act II, The Pulse

CMS always enjoys the opportunity to collaborate with artists, and Janet Echelman is an exceptionally unique and creative artist.

We teamed up with both the Echelman and Olin Studios to develop Janet’s vision of different colored, 4-foot tall curtains of glowing mist that would represent the subway trains as they travel below the plaza. Janet and Olin’s Sue Weiler have previously collaborated on projects and lecture series. Together they brought a dynamic and playful energy to the mock-up sessions. The mock-up was an essential part of the design process, given this water effect had never been attempted.
